Considerable energy is being devoted these days to tackling the issue of teacher leadership: how the idea can be used to drive school improvement and student achievement, what forms the concept should take, and how states can bring teacher leadership to life. In this regard, five states— Alabama, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky and Ohio –
that are connected to the Wallace Foundation Cohesive Leadership System grant work banded together to address these questions. Through their collaborative efforts, a “teacher leadership” program has been crafted that can be used for state licensure/certification and teacher leadership professional growth and development. This collaboration is an example of how high quality work can be accomplished across state lines and benefit education leadersip programs in the United States and abroad.
