Membership in the Interstate Consortium on School Leadership

Chief state school officers are invited to join the State Consortium on Education Leadership (SCEL) and designate a state representative for communication and projects. Participation and meetings are open only to state education agency (SEA) staff members designated by the chief state school officer. Representatives should have primary responsibilities for policies and programs governing administrator standards, preparation, testing, licensing or certification, professional training, and leadership for school improvement. To facilitate in-depth conversations and networking, we suggest designating one state representative, although the person attending meetings may change according to the specific topic. Meetings may be attended by one or two representatives from each SEA depending on topics and space available.

The leadership consortium provides a professional network for in-depth exchanges about effective leadership policies, state strategies, programs, and practices. State participants have extensive expertise and experiences with state leadership policies. The network has strengthened state policies and increased efficiency by learning from both positive and negative experiences in other states, sharing products that are needed for coherent system alignment, and collaborating to leverage and increase individual state capacity.

Membership 2008 - 09 TBA
