The answers include explanations for why literacy instruction within the content areas is so important and suggestions for how teachers can embed literacy instructional practices into their content lessons. Thurnau Professor of Literacy, Language, and Culture in Educational Studies and a Faculty Affiliate in Latina/o Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
