Educational Leadership Policy Standards: ISLLC 2008

In December 2007, the National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA) adopted the Educational Leadership Policy Standards: ISLLC 2008 (click here if you are interested in ordering hard copies). These standards are intended to serve as broad policy standards that state and accreditation agencies may use as a national model and foundation for the development of more specific practice and program standards.

To support this revision effort, the NPBEA/ISLLC Steering Committee formed a national Research Panel that was comprised of scholars in the field of educational administration and experts on state administrator policies. This panel, led by co-chairs Joseph Murphy of Vanderbilt University and Rosemary Papa of Northern Arizona University, identified a representative sample of the research supporting the ISLLC 2008 Policy Standards. This knowledge base will be updated over time to reflect the ongoing changes in the educational leadership field.

This research panel identified a representative sample of 83 empirical and 47 sources of knowledge references which support the six standards. Below are multiple formats of varying length that one may access this reference material:
