Project to Update the INTASC Model Core Standards - Committee Process and Schedule

The committee will include state teacher licensing officials, practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and national experts across the scope of the teacher licensing system (preparation, licensing, ongoing professional development).

The co-chairs supported by committee members and INTASC staff will draft the updated Model Core Standards document based on the detailed discussions and input from the full committee. This draft will be vetted with the full committee during its final two meetings and feedback will be incorporated. A final draft for public comment will be readied after the Committee’s final meeting.

Throughout the process, INTASC will keep its core constituency of state teacher licensing officials and key education stakeholder groups apprised of progress. Because consensus-building will be the next crucial step in the process in terms of getting the updated standards adopted into state policy, it is essential that these briefings occur throughout the process. INTASC will use its INTASC general member meetings and this website as a way to collect feedback on the Core Standards and the committee’s work as it progresses.. The feedback from these constituencies will be shared with the committee and inform their deliberations.

The committee will meet four times over the next 2 years:

1st Meeting
April 1-3, 2009

2nd Meeting
June 18-20, 2009

3rd Meeting
Oct 8-10, 2009

4th Meeting
April 22-24, 2010
