The Reinventing Education Change Toolkit is a dynamic set of change management tools designed specifically for educational professionals. The tools allow the professional to learn about a change management topic, diagnose their situation, read real-life strategies and useful approaches that their colleagues have tried, and apply their learnings to their own particular change issue or project.
The Change Toolkit also provides a forum for online collaboration and discussion to enable teams to work asynchronously. Used consistently and comprehensively, the Change Toolkit empowers innovators and change leaders throughout the system to implement teaching and learning reforms that raise the quality of education and enable all children to achieve at higher levels.
As states continue to implement the new provisions of the federal ESEA legislation, No Child Left Behind, the Reinventing Education Change Toolkit will have many potential applications and relevant uses. Generating data and identifying students, schools and school districts in need of support and improvement is a necessary, but hardly sufficient step. It is at this point, as school and district leaders, working with their teachers, parents and communities, begin to envision and then implement a new and higher level of success for their students, that the Change Toolkit can be a powerful support and adjunct to their existing resources. As schools and school districts explore new, more effective approaches to teaching and learning, the Change Toolkit will help them navigate the change they all are facing so that they can be more efficient and effective.
CCSSO is partnering with the IBM to sponsor the Change Toolkit and provide training and implementation support to state education departments who are prepared to integrate this initiative into their formal accountability and school improvement efforts. Additionally, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) are also partners and will be identifying a variety of professional development opportunities that can incorporate the Change Toolkit to advance their goals.
CCSSO and IBM launch Education Leadership Newsletter in support of Change Toolkit project
CCSSO and IBM have further partnered with Harvard Professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter to launch a monthly Education Leadership Newsletter. The newsletter contains original content by world-renowned expert in leadership and change management Rosabeth Moss Kanter as well as monthly contributions from leading educators from around the country. The newsletter draws upon the full wealth of information of the IBM Reinventing Education Change Toolkit.
