The Council has conducted several projects to develop assessment frameworks for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). These projects are critical for arriving at a national consensus on the content of NAEP as it becomes a high-stakes program for monitoring national goals and comparing progress of the states toward meeting these goals.  The Council has conducted projects in mathematics, reading, science, geography, civics, U.S. history, the arts, and is presently developing an assessment framework in economics.
