State Connections
There is no greater need for effective intergovernmental and interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborations than within the field of early childhood education. The nature of meeting the needs of young children and their families involves multiple agencies providing a wide array of services.  The connection between early care and education must aim at building quality in all domains.  Quality early care and childhood education is a proven foundation to assure K-12 educational success, especially for those children living in circumstances that place them at risk of school failure.  Connecting elementary schools to early childhood education programs enhances the chance that quality programs can go to scale.  The Early Childhood and Family Education initiative at the Council has been constituted under the leadership of the state education agencies based on this  central premise of partnering for success.  We hope to foster state connections to improve early childhood education through all our activities and products.
