NCES Forum

CCSSO administers the NCES Personnel Exchange Network. This program provides travel funds for state or local elementary/secondary education agency staff to visit other education organizations in order to share knowledge about education data issues.

CCSSO’s activities with the NCES Forum include, but are not limited to:

TASK FORCES – CCSSO administers and manages several Forum Task Forces, including the PK-12 Data Model Task Force and Attendance Working Group.

  • PK-12 Data Model Task Force – This Task Force is committed to developing a conceptual and a logical education data model that will focus upon teaching, learning, and the business of schools districts. More information about this Task Force and the Data Model can be found here.
  • Attendance Working Group – This Working Group is developing an exhaustive and mutually-exclusive list of attendance codes to provide the basis for accurate comparisons between districts and states. More information about this Working Group can be found here.

Standing Committees­ – CCSSO supports several Forum Standing Committees including the National Education Statistics Agenda Committee (NESAC), Policies, Programs and Implementation (PPI) and Technology (TECH) in their efforts.

  • NESAC is charged with supporting the development of a comparable and effective national elementary and secondary education data system. More information about NESAC, including meeting summaries and rosters, can be found here on the Forum website.
  • PPI addresses the policy implications of the Forum’s work on national education data issues. More information about PPI, including meeting summaries and rosters, can be found here on the Forum website.
  • TECH considers methods (especially technology-related strategies) for improving data collection and communication within states and between states and the federal government. More information about PPI, including meeting summaries and rosters, can be found here on the Forum website.
