Maryland Teacher Named 2014 National Teacher of the Year

The Council of Chief State School Officers announced today that Sean McComb, a high school English teacher from Maryland, was named the 64th National Teacher of the Year. McComb, along with all 2014 State Teachers of the Year, will be recognized by President Barack Obama in a ceremony at the White House on May 1, 2014.

 

CCSSO Announces Four Finalists for 2014 National Teacher of the Year Award

Today, the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) announced that educators from Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia are finalists for the 2014 National Teacher of the Year. The National Teacher of the Year spends a year representing educators across the country and advocating on behalf of the teaching profession. Outside of their classrooms, the four finalists focus on sharing their knowledge with colleagues through mentorship, staff development and training opportunities to help ensure every teacher is equipped to prepare all of their students for success.

 

WA Teacher Named 2013 National Teacher of the Year

The Council of Chief State School Officers announced today that Jeff Charbonneau, a 9-12th grade Chemistry, Physics and Engineering teacher in Washington state, is the 63rd National Teacher of the Year. Charbonneau, along with all 2013 State Teachers of the Year, will be recognized by President Barack Obama in a ceremony at the White House, on Tuesday, April 23.

CCSSO Announces Finalists for 2012 National Teacher of the Year

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) announced the four finalists for the 2012 National Teacher of the Year today. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the program, which honors educators representing the teaching profession as their State Teacher of the Year. This prestigious program allows teachers from across the country to collaborate with policy makers at every level and advocate on behalf of the teaching profession.

 

Maryland High School Chemistry Teacher Named 2011 National Teacher of the Year

CCSSO announced today that Michelle Shearer, a high school chemistry teacher in Frederick, Maryland, is the 61st National Teacher of the Year. Shearer and all of the 2011 State Teachers of the Year will be recognized by President Barack Obama in a ceremony at the White House Tuesday, May 3.
