People, Groups, and Projects Federal Regulations, Guidance, and Letters State Information Publications People, Groups, and Projects Data Quality and Standards Project Funded through a contract with the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), this project supports the work of NCES's Common Core of Data and National Forum on Education Statistics, and ED's Performance-Based Data Management Initiative (PBDMI). Education Indicators Advisory Committee (EIAC) EIAC monitors federal data collection, evaluation, and assessment activities for quality, burden on state and local education agencies, and duplication with other activities; provides state and local education agencies with technical expertise; serves as a point of state consultation in the development of assessment, evaluation, and survey data collection programs; and represents chief state school officers in liaison functions between federal and state agencies. State Education Indicators Project To assist education administrators and policymakers in making informed decisions, CCSSO staff conduct 50-state studies, produce reports, develop accessible websites, convene task forces and study groups, and provide state-specific technical assistance. Accountability Systems and Reporting Consortium (ASR-SCASS) Collaborative of state educators and consultants that focuses on the effective development and implementation of states' accountability and reporting systems. School Indicators and Profiles Special Interest Group of AERA Federal Regulations, Guidance, and Letters Office of Elementary and Secondary Education Joint U.S. Department of Education and Department of Agriculture Letter providing guidance on the use of data from school lunch programs for data disaggregation purposes February 20, 2003 Overview of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) State Information Key State Education Policies on PK-12 Education: 2002 CCSSO 2002 Profiles of states' indicators for Time and Attendance, Early Childhood, Graduation Requirements, Content Standards, Teacher Licensure, School Leader Licensure, Student Assessment Profiles of State Education Systems for Use with NAEP CCSSO 2002 State profiles intended to assist with analysis and use of NAEP results. Profiles are based on 50-state surveys conducted by CCSSO with support from the National Center for Education Statistics. A Guide to Effective Accountability Reporting Ellen Forte Fast with ASR-SCASS 2003 Analysis of NCLB reporting requirements and recommendations for the effective design of accountability reports. State Education Accountability Reports and Indicator Reports: Status of Reports across the States--2002 CCSSO 2002 Summary of state education accountability and state education indicator reports for 2002. Includes state-by-state profiles on the types of reports published annually by states, when they are produced, and the levels at which statistics are reported. Privacy Issues in Education Staff Records CCSSO and the National Center for Education Statistics February 2000 Analysis of key concepts in protecting and managing information in staff records. This document does not provide legal guidelines but does address the federal Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts and offers principles of best practice. Protecting the Privacy of Student Education Records CCSSO and the National Center for Education Statistics 1997 Analysis and explanation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA gives parents, as well as students in postsecondary schools, the right to review and confirm the accuracy of education records.
