| Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) |
CCSSO continues its longstanding commitment to supporting chief state school officers in crafting federal education policy. The Council is pleased to announce it has recently convened a new Task Force for Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
A task force has been identified, and this task force is reviewing CCSSO’s 2006 ESEA Reauthorization Policy Statement and drafting a set of principles to guide the organization through the reauthorization process.
In the coming months the task force will develop a formal reauthorization proposal that factors in a new federal political climate and showcases CCSSO’s leadership at the state and federal levels. CCSSO will submit these recommendations to the Congressional authorizing committees later this year.
CCSSO has assembled a geographically and politically diverse group of chiefs, deputies, federal liaisons and state education agency staff to serve on this task force. To view the full membership click here.
