CCSSO Strategic Initiatives

Transforming Education: Delivering on Our Promise to Every Child is a discussion document that highlights the rationale behind and thinking on each of our strategic initiative areas. Our chief state school officers have agreed to support substantial changes in our current education system in the hopes of better serving our nation’s students. An undertaking of this magnitude is complicated – as it should be – but the time is right for this kind of collective, state-led action. We can transform this outdated, archaic system of education into one in which all students thrive – well beyond the classroom. We believe that the Council’s efforts to change the national education context through four key areas by using various tools and tactics will lead to the systems change necessary for a true 21st century revision of teaching and learning. Our members, board, staff, and thought partners have worked in collaboration to identify how we will support state education agencies to accomplish this goal and we hope you will support us in the quest to implement and push these ideas to scale.
