Lois Adams-Rodgers, Deputy Executive Director

Lois Adams-Rodgers

Dr. Lois Adams-Rodgers is a Deputy Executive Director for the Council of Chief State School Officers. In this capacity she oversees the Office of Program Collaboration and Outreach and is responsible for collaborative outreach with like-minded organizations, global education initiatives, cross-organizational program development, Deputies Leadership Commission relations, mentoring and operational support for two initiatives, and its Wallace Foundation education leadership initiatives.

Dr. Adams-Rodgers joined the Council of Chief State School Officers after a 32-year career as a Kentucky educator at a variety of levels. She has served as a teacher, elementary and middle school principal, special education program coordinator, assistant superintendent, superintendent of schools, associate professor and director of programs at two universities, a state department official in multiple leadership roles, serving as deputy commissioner in the Kentucky Department of Education under three commissioners of education. She holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate of education from the University of Louisville.

Dr. Adams-Rodgers serves on a variety of boards, including the National Association of State Science and Math Coalitions, Appalachian Math and Science Partnership, National Community Education Association, the Steering Committee of the Arts Education Partnership, and the Center for Research, Evaluation and Advancement of Teacher Education.
