The Kansas Department of Education is seeking a grant from the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) to study implementing CCSSO's 10 recommendations for improving the teaching profession, such as simplifying the licensing process for out-of-state teachers.

Arne Duncan Allows Waiver States Extra Time on Teacher Evaluation

The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) will give additional flexibility to states whose No Child Left Behind Act waiver requests were approved before the summer of 2012, allowing them to delay the use of student growth on state tests in their teacher evaluations for one year until the 2016-17 school year.

 

Maryland Approves Teacher, Principal Evaluation Plans

On June 13, the Maryland Department of Education announced the approval of 21 of 22 teacher and principal evaluation plans, which will take effect for the 2013-14 school year.
