State Spotlight on Educator Preparation

NTEP States

Across the country, states are strengthening educator preparation to better support the challenging work that teachers do every day in the classroom. Here’s a glimpse into what those improvements look like in different states and how our students are benefitting.

The Network for Transforming Educator Preparation (NTEP) is comprised of 13 states that collaborate and support one another in the shared goal of improving the quality of educator preparation.

NTEP's mission is built on CCSSO's Our Responsibility, Our Promise report, which identified four key areas for transforming educator preparation:

  1. Licensure policies and systems;

  2. Program approval policies, systems and standards;

  3. Data systems, to support continuous improvement of educator preparation; and

  4. Stakeholder engagement, to develop and implement this new system of educator preparation.
