Health Education Assessment Project (HEAP)
The HEAP SCASS works to develop effective health education assessment resources through a collaborative process. HEAP increases members' capacity to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student health literacy through improved health education instruction.
The HEAP SCASS is currently focused developing several products through their custom web-based system:
- Developing Cogntivie Complexity Sets of assessment items based on the skill standards of the National Health Education Standards and Bloom's Revised Taxonomy. These will be used to provide professional development for teachers as well as improve the HEAP item bank but increasing the number of more cognitively complex items.
- Developing book templates of books with health topics. Templates include discussion questions for both health content and health skills. Also includes assessments, vocabulary words, and teacher resources.
