State Leadership on Federal Funds Flexibility

The CCSSO working group convenes to share innovative ideas in how best to direct funds to improve student learning opportunities and develops tools for all states to use and to start a conversation with the U.S. Department of Education on how best to support states in leading this work around student-centered federal funding.  This working group has been active since August 2013 as a follow-up to the work that Superintendent John White presented on behalf of Louisiana at CCSSO's 2013 Summer Institute.   One product of the workgroup is a toolkit of materials to support state education agency leaders in beginning to think about allowable uses of federal funding streams and streamlining processes for districts to report to the agency on uses of funds.  The toolkit and related resources are available below:
