Please let us know if you would like to attend the summer SEC Training Conference in Portland, OR. This is sponsored by the SEC State Collaborative. You would need to pay your travel, hotel and expenses from your project, but we encourage you to attend.

The focus will be in two areas: a) Training of trainers on local Uses of the SEC data, and b) Evaluation uses of the SEC data at state or project level.

We still have room in the hotel but let us know quickly if you would like to attend.

Subject: Register NOW for SEC July 7-9; Upcoming for 04-05

Hello SEC state collaborative!

Some of you have already registered for the July 7-9 meeting in Portland Oregon, and others are welcoming my reminder (I am sure sure)!!

The updated agenda is attached, and you may want to check the emphases of this meeting.

Agenda Emphases

I wanted to alert everyone to a couple of features:

1) The agenda will include "Training of Trainers" for staff that may be leading workshops with educators in your state on Uses of Data from Surveys of Enacted Curriculum, either alignment results or teacher survey results.

The agenda refers to Levels 1,2,3 regarding SEC Professional Support, and the definitions of the types of training or assistance under these levels is attached below.

2) The agenda also includes sessions on Analysis of SEC Data for purposes of evaluation, needs assessment or planning, such as for > states that collected data from a sample of teachers. We will also have available in July the Alignment content coding results from Feb. 04 workshop, and the teacher survey results from Spring 04.

3) We will be working with each state to analyze their data and activities from 03-04, and and working with states to plan for your continued uses of SEC tools and services in 04-05.

# of Participnats per state?

All current SEC member states have funds in their SEC account to cover travel, hotel/expenss for 2 staff to participate in the meeting, and several states have funds for additional staff. If your state wants to have an additional person participate that will lead Training for SEC within your state (but you do not have 03-04 funds remaining for a 3rd person), you can cover the travel and expenses directly or make other arrangements to be billed. Please contact Carlise or Rolf if you want to an additional participant.

04-05 Membership

Most of the current 15 SEC states have made plans for continuing your SEC projects within your state, and some of you have already paid your memberships for 04-05. All of the Requests for Invoice will go out to current states on June 1. If you want to send your RFI for SEC membership in now, go to the online version, and complete the form indicating it is for 2004-05 school year, and fax to CCSSO as indicated.

If you are not sure of the amount of funds remaining in your account for SEC, please contact Carlise or Rolf.

We hope the activities you planned for this year have gone well, and we look forward to continuing our work with you.

Please let us know if you have questions.
