Hello MSP sites and partners in MSP PD Longitudinal Study--

It was very good to see many of you at the NSF meeting 2 weeks ago! I hope you found it pleasant to be greeted by piles of snow in DC!

Thanks to Kwang S. Yoon for presenting at the Conference on our MSP PD study! great job!

[In case you didn't notice, the Hyatt Regency on NJ avenue where the meeting was held is 1 block from our offices at CCSSO (in the "National Guard Building)]

Several items of interest:

  1. We have signed on our Study/Project and the SEC and PDAL tools to the new MSPnet website which is designed to provide web-based information and services to all the MS Partnerships. Simply sign on: www.mspnet.org.
  2. The PDAL response rate is still improving-- up over 50% -- we will provide a response rate by site from our staff at AIR who are doing the tracking. We believe the phone call system is working well to improve. Please let us know if you have heard from teachers on this.
  3. The SEC Teacher Survey is being used in this Study with some item improvements from the version used in several prior projects. The Surveys have been analyzed to ensure validity and reliability of responses. It is available on the web and in paper form for access by any education organization. See www.SEConline.org or www.SECsurvey.org. We do need to charge for services for use of the web-based tool or for using the print form to collect and input data.
The PD Activity Log (PDAL) is a web-based tool that has been developed and improved through this Study. They both ARE available for use by other MSPs and education organizations/agencies, and AIR staff can assist in providing access to the PDAL.
  4. A new website has been developed by Learning Point Associates /NCREL to provide Support to Users of the Surveys. Look for it at www.SECsupport.org.
