CCSSO to Join Education Officials from Around the World at International Summit on the Teaching Profession March 16-17

Washington, DC- Chief state school officers from around the country and CCSSO Executive Director, Gene Wilhoit will join U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, educators and leaders from across the world at the first ever International Summit on the Teaching Profession (Summit) in New York City, March 16-17.
The Summit will focus on identifying and elaborating on best practices from around the world for recruiting, preparing and supporting teachers in ways that effectively enhance the teaching profession and ultimately, elevate student performance. The Summit is hosted by U.S. Department of Education, CCSSO, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Education International (EI), the National Education Association (NEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the Asia Society and public broadcaster WNET.
The Summit is designed to encourage frank and open discussion. Press access will be limited to closing sessions on Thursday, March 17. Details listed below. Space is limited. All attendees including press will be credentialed. Media interested in attending should RSVP to elizabeth.utrup@ed.gov.
