CCSSO Congratulates John King on New Position

Washington, D.C. (December 10, 2014) -- CCSSO Executive Director Chris Minnich released the following statement about New York Education Commissioner John King's move to the U.S. Department of Education:

"I am pleased to hear John King is joining the U.S. Department of Education. He is a strong, thoughtful educational leader who has worked closely with educators on the ground to do what is best for students across the State of New York. I look forward to working with him in this different capacity as we strive to improve learning for all students across the country."


The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. The Council seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.
