Washington, D.C. (August 9, 2017) - The U.S. Department of Education announced today that three states have received approval on their state plans under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The Department approved plans for Nevada, New Jersey and New Mexico. Delaware's plan was the first to be approved

Chris Minnich, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), released the following statement:

"Congratulations to Nevada, New Jersey and New Mexico on the approval of their state plans under the Every Student Succeeds Act. We applaud U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and her team at the U.S. Department of Education for acting quickly to approve these plans before the beginning of the school year so states can begin the hard work of implementation."
