Washington, D.C. (April 27, 2016) - The National Center for Education Statistics today released results for the 2015 twelfth-grade mathematics and reading assessments from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation's Report Card.

Council of Chief State School Officers executive director Chris Minnich released the following statement about the results:

"All states are committed to making sure every child graduates from high school prepared for college, careers and life. The most recent results from the Nation's Report Card in 12th grade show we still have a lot of work to do before accomplishing this goal. We are seeing some encouraging signs as students across most demographics have performed better in math over time. Yet, it is clear we must continue to give our teachers and students the time and support they need to adjust to higher academic standards that will better prepare all kids for life after high school."
