CCSSO Executive Director Statement on Colorado Chief’s Announcement

Washington, D.C. (April 24, 2015) - Colorado Education Commissioner Robert Hammond said today that he plans to retire on July 1. He has served as Commissioner since 2011.

Chris Minnich, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), said the following after hearing the news:

"Robert Hammond is a well-respected leader in Colorado and across the country. He has led Colorado's education system through changing and challenging times, yet he has always remained focused on students and made progress for all children. His leadership will be missed in Colorado and across the nation."
