Washington, D.C. - Chris Minnich, Executive Director of the Council of Chief State School Officers, released the following statement after Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed House Bill 3399 into law.

"The action taken in Oklahoma today is more evidence that states have complete control over their academic standards. Unfortunately, it takes Oklahoma a step backwards, returning its public school classrooms back to academic standards that will not prepare kids for college, career or to compete in the world we live in today. Going forward, I hope parents, teachers and legislators in Oklahoma will quickly follow through on what Governor Fallin promised today and find a path forward to raise academic standards once again."
