Washington, D.C. (December 9, 2015) - The U.S. Senate on Wednesday approved the Every Student Succeeds Act, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Chris Minnich, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), released the following statement after the vote in the U.S. Senate.

"State education chiefs applaud the U.S. Senate on its passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act, and urge President Barack Obama to quickly sign it into law. This legislation is essential to bringing stability to federal education law, and wiping away the unpredictability of operating waiver to waiver. I am further encouraged by the bipartisan commitment to ensuring the nation's students have a quality education that prepares them for success in college and careers."
