Washington, D.C. (September 13, 2016) - The U.S. House of Representatives voted today to approve the Strengthening Career and Technical Education (CTE) for the 21st Century Act, a bill that reauthorizes the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.

Chris Minnich, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), said, "CCSSO has worked with our members for the past two years to advance career readiness for all students. We are pleased to see the U.S. House of Representatives approving the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. As all states work to better align education programs with current workforce needs, this legislation will add to the coordination necessary for state and local educators to ensure all students - regardless of background - graduate from high school prepared for college, careers and life."
