Formative Assessment and Next-Generation Assessment Systems: Are We Losing an Opportunity?

On Wednesday, November 10, CCSSO and leading authorities on formative assessment released a new report about the future of student assessment and the development of more effective ways to assess student learning.

Margaret Heritage from the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, & Student Testing (CRESST) at UCLA presented her paper: Formative Assessment and Next-Generation Assessment Systems: Are We Losing an Opportunity?

Gene Wilhoit, CCSSO executive director, moderated a panel discussion about the importance of redefining our understanding of formative assessment and the ways to use assessment for effective teaching and student learning.
