Vermont One of Five States Selected for National Education Initiative

State Education Secretary Armando Vilaseca announced that Vermont is one of five states - New Hampshire, Maryland, Mississippi, and Oregon being the others - chosen by the University of Kansas to receive a five-year, $24.5-million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to implement the K-8 Schoolwide Integrated Framework for Transformation (SWIFT) national education initiative. Working with the SWIFT Center, the states will provide additional behavioral, physical health, and mental health services for K-8 students with the help of national experts in behavior, academics, family engagement, and other issues.
