State Ed Approves 533 Teacher Evaluation Plans

Legislative Gazette (NY) (01/02/13)

New York State Education Commissioner John B. King, Jr., has approved 533 school district teacher and principal Annual Professional Performance Review evaluation plans, which were submitted as required by the revised teacher and principal evaluation law passed in 2012. In addition, Education Department staff have provided feedback on all submitted and resubmitted evaluation plans from school districts that still do not have approved plans. As of Jan. 2, nine districts have not submitted plans, and King warned that all school districts must have an approved plan in place by Jan. 17 or they will lose their portion of the 2013 fiscal year education aid increase, adding that his staff is expediting reviews of submitted plans. King also said, "98 percent of the school districts in the state have submitted plans for approval. That's a remarkable response to an important but complicated issue."
