08/28/12Solano County Educators Prepare for New, Rigorous Academic Standards
Patch.com (08/28/12) Reber, SheldonThe Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) in California is working hard to prepare educators for the implementation of the Common Core State Standards in the 2014-15 school year. SCOE has partnered with Pearson to provide training to teachers and administrators, with intensive training on the new math standards held Aug. 20-21 and additional training sessions on both the math and English-language arts standards slated for September and October. More training is planned for November, when SCOE and Pearson team up to establish a Secondary Academic Institute for middle and high school leaders. "Our educators are going to be very well prepared to help students succeed under the new standards," says Solano County Superintendent Jay Speck. "They are working hard, and we have dedicated ourselves to giving teachers and administrators very significant support to prepare for what will be a new era in California education."
