Ardmoreite.com (09/10/12) Lindsey, JenniferThe Oklahoma State Department of Education has so far trained 60 professional educators as REAC3H -- Regional Educators Advancing College, Career, and Citizenship readiness Higher -- coaches as part of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi's C3 Plan to ensure students graduate college, career, and citizen ready. Barresi says, "These are highly trained professionals whose main focus will be job-imbedded professional development. Their overall goal will be training in Oklahoma C3 Standards to increase proficiency and rigor in schools. Their primary assignment is in the area of prekindergarten to 3rd-grade literacy to assure that all children are successful on the third-grade assessment." The coaches also will help teachers transition to the Common Core standards and new state standards in social studies, attending one week of training per month at the department and then holding workshops and one-on-one visits to classrooms to pass their knowledge on to teachers.
