Preliminary Results Show Reading and Writing Passing Rate Surpassing 93 Percent for Class of 2013

Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn announced that preliminary state-level data found that more than 93 percent of the state's 12th-grade students in the Class of 2013 passed both the state reading and writing high school proficiency exams (HSPE), or state-approved alternatives, prior to reaching their respective graduation ceremonies. "The HSPE passage rate continues to rise. Our students perform quite well on reading and writing exams. Teachers, students, and families have been working hard to achieve these results," he said.
