Oklahoma Becomes 19th Leading State on 21st Century Readiness

Partnership for 21st Century Skills (06/25/2013)

Oklahoma has become the 19th state to join the Partnership for 21st Century Skills' P21 State Leadership Initiative, pushing the use of P21's Framework for 21st Century Learning to ensure student readiness for college, career, and citizenship. Joining the initiative means the state is committed to developing the Oklahoma Innovation Index -- which will encourage, assess, and reward classroom creativity -- and a statewide professional development network to train teachers for the 21st Century classroom. Oklahoma Secretary of Science & Technology Dr. Stephen McKeever says, "Oklahoma's membership with P21 aligns perfectly with our goal of preparing a skilled workforce to compete in the global marketplace." P21 President Dr. Steve Paine adds, "We are excited to work with Oklahoma and all our states, as well as local educators, business leaders, parents, and community members working to transform our schools to meet the demands of the 21st Century."
