Officials Release Names of 1,097 Massachusetts Schools That Will Test the New PARCC Exam (02/10/14) DeForge, Jeanette

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has released a list of 1,097 schools across the state that will test the new Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exam this spring. State Education Commissioner Mitchell D. Chester says neither students nor educators will receive the results from the trial PARCC test, but the answers will be combined with the results from a second trial run scheduled for next year to determine whether the state adopts PARCC. The schools will take one of four PARCC exams in certain classes between grades 3 and 11 to try out different questions to see if students understand them, determine if the questions are too difficult or too easy, and whether they fit with the Common Core State Standards. The first performance-based exams will be given in English and math betweenMarch 24 and April 11, and end of the year assessments will be given in those subjects between May 5 and June 6.
