NCLB Waiver Good News in New Hampshire
Nashua Telegraph (NH) (07/07/13)New Hampshire is the most recent state to receive a waiver from the No Child Left Behind Act. State Education Commissioner Virginia Barry says, "This waiver provides our state the opportunity to focus resources on those initiatives that will move our state forward in the best interest of children." The waiver will offer the flexibility needed to improve schools through tailored means. The State Education Department is expected to focus on the 5 percent of schools deemed the lowest performers and match the resources and improvement strategies to each schools' needs. Teacher evaluations will be an important part of the plan as well.
