NCES Announces the 2014 NAEP State Ambassador Program
By Kirsten TaylorThe National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has announced the establishment of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) State Ambassador program. This program is aimed at increasing the knowledge of chief state schools officers about NAEP-related programs and soliciting their input and advice on how to continue to improve NAEP. NCES has asked a group of former chiefs to serve as "NAEP Ambassadors" to current chiefs for the 2014 Ambassador program.
Members of the Ambassador team are Bill Cody, former chief for Kentucky and Louisiana; Judy Catchpole, former chief for Wyoming; Marilyn Howard, former chief for Idaho; Mike Ward, former chief for North Carolina and Abe Saavedra, former district superintendent from Houston.
Ambassadors will meet with each state chief individually. The NAEP Ambassador's visit offers an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on important upcoming NAEP activities. Chiefs will be contacted directly about scheduling this meeting and any follow-up information. For more information about NAEP, please visit the National Assessment Governing Board.
