On Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. EDT the National Assessment Governing Board, which sets policy for NAEP, will host a live webinar to explore the results of a groundbreaking assessment that used technology and tools comparable to those in America's workplaces to test the writing skills of 8th- and 12th-grade students.

Attendees will find out how many students performed at the BasicProficient, and Advanced achievement levels; learn about relationships between student background factors and academic performance; review results of students' attempts to persuade, explain, or convey experiences to a specified audience-such as a college admissions committee-under time constraints; and explore the ways in which students engaged with the first-of-its-kind multimedia assessment, including compelling data regarding their use of word processing tools such as spell check, a thesaurus, and text-to-speech. Panelists include esteemed professors and education specialists.

If you have questions about the event, please contact Amber McLaughlin at 202.499.4411 or amclaughlin@reingold.com. For more information, visit www.nagb.org/writing2011.
