NACSA Announces New Resources

By Margaret Millar

The National Association of Charter School Authorizers has announced two new resources. First, the report titled "Core Performance Framework and Guidance" provides a template to build and customize a clearly defined set of academic, financial and operational performance criteria for all charter schools.

The second document contains state policy guidance to strengthen charter school performance and accountability. While some states have a generally high-performing charter school sector, other states have a mix of high-performing and failing charter schools as well as authorizing agencies that do not have the desire or capacity to enforce high expectations.

NACSA's policy guidance provides a starting point of recommendations to strengthen performance and accountability within state laws, and the organization works with state legislators across the country and can assist states.
