More Hawaii Public School Students Gearing Up for College?
Honolulu Civil Beat (05/08/13) Wong, AliaHawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education and the State Department of Education have issued College and Career Readiness Indicators reports that show improvements among public school students throughout the college-readiness pipeline. The reports show a 24 percent jump in the number of students taking Advanced Placement exams, a boost in college enrollment to 54 percent last year from 53 percent in 2011, and a decrease in the number of students requiring remedial English classes. The "culture around using data for improvement" helped increase college preparedness, says State Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi.
