Montgomery and Poultney Elementary Schools Receive Title I Reward Grants
vtdigger.org (12/04/2012)Vermont Education Commissioner Armando Vilaseca says Montgomery and Poultney Elementary Schools achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) on the New England Comprehensive Assessment System (NECAP) for two consecutive years and academic gains within the subpopulation of students in poverty. The state's first Title I Reward Schools will each receive grants totaling $10,000. "Montgomery Elementary Principal Beth O'Brien and Poultney Elementary Principal Kristen Caliguiri are strong educational leaders who have brought a collaborative approach to their respective buildings," he says. "They embrace and model an approach that is caring, fun and above all, student-centered." The schools are expected to use the grants to engage their struggling learners. This news brief was summarized for Chiefline, CCSSO's weekly newsletter.
