Georgia Superintendent Appoints Chief Privacy Officer

Georgia's State School Superintendent Richard Woods appointed Levette Williams, Georgia Department of Education's (GaDOE) current Technology Management Director, to serve as the state's first Chief Privacy Officer. The Georgia legislature recently passed House Bill 414, the Student Data, Privacy, Accessibility and Transparency Act. The bill calls on the GaDOE to ensure the protection of student privacy via policies and procedures, including the appointment of a Chief Privacy Officer to develop, implement, and communicate those new policies.
