Funds for Learning Report Finds Increase in Demand for E-rate Funds

Funds for Learning, an e-rate consulting firm, recently released a report, "FY2014 E-rate Funding Requests Telecommunications and Internet Access By Schools & School Districts." The findings of the report were submitted to the FCC and indicate more requests from rural and remote locations as compared to FY2013 as well as continued requests for Internet access and wide area network (WAN) services nationwide. The tables in the report also provide a state-by-state comparison of funding requests on a per-student basis that highlight, for example, that Alaska submitted the most requests while Utah submitted the least. Other tables provided include an analysis of the requests by school size, location type and size. The report does not include requests from libraries or consortia.
