Florida Sees Strong Growth in Graduation Rates, Report Says
Tampa Bay Times (06/06/13) Solochek, Jeffrey S.Florida's graduation rate climbed 23 percentage points from 2000 to 2010 and currently stands at 72.9 percent, according to Education Week's Diplomas Count report. Its graduation rate for Hispanic students is nine points higher than the national rate at 77.1 percent. State Education Commissioner Tony Bennett says, "Florida has long been on the forefront of national education reform and we are seeing very positive results of that commitment. ... This by no means indicates that our work is finished. But it is a clear sign that by working together with a clear focus, we can all help ensure that every student has a chance to succeed in college, in a career, and in life."
