Florida Districts Prepare for Common Core State Standards
Pensacola News Journal (FL) (02/26/13) Kourkounis, ErinFull implementation of the Common Core State Standards and assessments will begin in the 2014-15 school year, says the Florida Department of Education. Teachers in the state are making sure students are ready for success by incorporating innovative teaching techniques that support the new standards. "Florida educators strive to provide the highest quality education and Common Core State Standards give our students a competitive edge in global education. I applaud our educators for their initiative and openness to embrace these deeper, stronger standards for our students," State Education Commissioner Tony Bennett said. Parents are likely to see teachers and districts, as well as the education department, reach out to explain the purpose of the new standards and help with the transition.
