Education Chief Shows Off New Common Core Test Items, Underlining Support for Initiative

On Feb. 10, Louisiana Superintendent of Education John White rolled out sample questions for the 2015 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC) test that aligns with the Common Core State Standards and is slated to replace the iLEAP and LEAP exams. "Why this test?" White asked. "It gives us the chance to see how our kids are doing [compared to other students in the United States, and it gives] many more opportunities for kids to think critically." He noted that the costs are the same for the new test, and online tools that let students read one line at a time and cross out answers make it a better option for students with disabilities.
