DPI Releases Public Reports on Educator Effectiveness
Jefferson Post (NC) (05/13/13)The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has released the summary results of teacher and administrator evaluation systems for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years, which can be accessed through the Educator Effectiveness Database by clicking here here. The data can help parents, educators, and others in the community gauge the effectiveness of schools and showcases how schools and districts are using evaluation data. Evaluation results can be searched by school, district, and state levels, but information on individual teachers or administrators is not made public. State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson says, "As we continue our journey of remodeling our schools in order to prepare students to be ready for college and careers, we must continue to provide parents and supporters with good information about the effectiveness of our teachers. This new online system establishes a clear and accurate baseline for observing our progress around educator effectiveness."
