Connecticut Launches Website to Provide Information on Common Core

New Haven Register (02/04/14) Quaye, Mercy A

The Connecticut Department of Education has launched a website to provide educators and parents with the most up-to-date information on the Common Core State Standards. "This website provides a variety of vetted and useful resources to teachers, administrators, parents, and community members regarding the Common Core. That said, this website is a work in progress and its contents and features will evolve with input from these key stakeholders," said State Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor. The website also will house information in several languages. He said the website is part of the state's efforts to support teachers and school leaders implementing the standards, as it strives to train more than 1,000 school- and district-based coaches who will offer professional development to their coworkers. "We're also sponsoring 'community of practice' sessions in which school and district leaders [will] dialogue and learn about the Common Core. And more supports for educators are on the way," Pryor said.
