Chiefs to Meet with Chinese Policy Leaders in Boston
By Abby HexterChiefs and state policy makers from 14 states are scheduled to participate in the US-CHINA Policy Leaders Dialogue: Quality and Equity for All, held April 7 - 9, 2013, in Boston, Massachusetts. Facilitated conversations will focus on issues of mutual concern including educator quality and under-achieving schools. Chinese Provincial Director Generals and Deputy Generals will be attending from 12 provinces and Shanghai and include: Anhui, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jilin, Liaoning, Shanghai, Shanxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang.
The meeting, hosted by Harvard University, and will provide and opportunity for policy leaders from both countries to:
- Learn from one another on issues of common concern-educator quality and under-achieving schools
- Visit school programs in the Boston area where outstanding practices are taking place and there is the opportunity to engage with students, teachers, principals and district leaders on these practices.
- Strengthen current State-Provincial partnerships or creating future partnerships between states and provinces
